Good radiation, as easy as αβγ, is a website that will cover all matters at the intersection of science and medicine to improve our understanding, communication, and application of medical physics in a concise and simple way.
My name is Ioannis Argyridis and I am a medical physicist and clinical scientist with over 12 years of experience acquired in research universities, public and private hospitals, and the pharmaceutical/medical device industry, in various countries. You can find more on my Linkedin page.
As the name of the website suggests, I will focus on aspects of nuclear medicine, one of the specialties in medical physics, the “good” radiation that is used for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases with radiopharmaceuticals which emit α (alpha), β (beta) and γ (gamma) radiation. Since the skills, tools, methods, and principles used in the very multidisciplinary medical physics realm can be applied to analyse many other seemingly unrelated topics, then you may see here reviews, news and ideas on a variety of topics.
Below is a list of some topics you might see in the near future, please let me know your favorite or suggest something new in the comments below.
- theranostics, new radiopharmaceuticals for cancer and beyond
- auditing, testing, validating and verifying software: are we doing enough?
- in silico drug discovery: the pros and cons of replacing humans with machine learning
- molecular jackhammers: can near infrared light kill cancer?
- UV light for disinfection, why is it not more widely used?
- vitamin D thresholds: what is normal, insufficient, deficient for your age, gender, and race/ethnicity
See you soon!
